Maria Alexandria (Alex) Beech (Partner) is a Venezuelan-American writer living in New York. Alex’s TV pilot, Telemamas, is currently in development with Wise Entertainment.

Her plays include Infinity Pond (Primary Stages/Theater Masters; appeared in the Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival and Palm Beach Theater Festival), Good Friends (New American Voices Festival; Crossing Borders Festival at Two River Theater), Breaking Walls (Cherry Lane Theatre), Little Monsters (Primary Stages/Brandeis Theater Company), Swipe, Tap, and Touch (Primary Stages/Brandeis Theater Company), What Are You Doing Here? (Planet Connections Theater Festival), and Gloria (INTAR). Her play, The Islands, is featured in Steppenwolf Theatre Company‘s The Mix, “a new play resource highlighting plays that feature casts of intersectional and intersecting social identities.” Her musical, Class — written with composer and Threechicken partner Karl Saint Lucy — was a finalist for the 2017 National Musical Theater Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center.

Alex is a former member of The Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group at Primary Stages and the Hispanic Playwrights in Residence Lab at INTAR.

In 2009, she won the Aspen Theater Masters’ Visionary Award and is a member of the Aspen Institute Guest Scholars Program. Alex serves as a member of the México/United States Playwright Exchange at The Lark Play Development Center.

She holds a BA and MFA from Columbia University and an MFA from NYU. Alex is a Cycle 21 graduate of The Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program at NYU.
